I am a compassionate and highly motivated Support Worker with a focus on organizing and taking initiative to support individuals in their activities of daily living. Currently pursuing my Personal Support Worker Certificate with the Durham District School Board in Oshawa, Ontario, I have also acquired extensive training and certifications to enhance my skills and knowledge in the field.
My qualifications include certifications in Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C, Psychological First Aid, Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care, WHMIS, lifts, transfers, equipment handling, Smart Serve License, IPAC while supporting residents with dementia, and more. I am committed to building relationships, supporting mental health, managing pain and distress, and preventing falls while handling conflicts with care.
With previous volunteer experience at the Durham Community Action Group in Ajax, Ontario, where I assisted in delivering food items to shelters and maintained a clean environment, my hands-on role as a Residential Support Worker at Saint Francis Elderly Home Care in Lagos, Nigeria, involved providing personal care, effective communication, and mobility support for seniors and disabled residents.
I further honed my skills as a Continuing Care Assistant at Heart of Gold Children's Hospice in Lagos, Nigeria, where I assisted clients with daily living tasks, household management, care planning, and assisted device usage education.
