ComforHome Ltd. (ComforHome, we, us, or our) operates a free information platform and public directory. We are not an employer, staffing agency, employment services provider, recruiter, or supervising authority of caregivers, care partners, or clients. Care, payment, and contracts are between users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information in connection with https://comforhome.ca/.
This policy should be read with our Terms of Service and Cookies Policy.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy legislation. We do not rely on Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, which generally applies to public institutions rather than a private company such as ComforHome Ltd.
Our primary servers and processing are in Canada. Limited transfers outside Canada (for example analytics, maps, advertising measurement, or email/SMS delivery) are described below.
Using the Website Services means you have been given this policy. Optional marketing (email or SMS that is not needed to run an inquiry or your account) is sent only if you opt in, and you may withdraw that consent. Submitting a listing contact form is a request that we share that form with the caregiver you selected, as described in Section 4.
We may update this policy. Notice of significant changes will be posted on the website at least 30 days in advance. The date at the top is the last update.
By using the site you also acknowledge that:
Clients may be individuals, households, or lawfully operating care providers, facilities, or agencies. We do not treat “family users” as a separate legal category.
Automatically: device identifiers, approximate location derived from IP or maps use, pages viewed, IP address, and browser type, used for security, operations, and (where tools below are active) analytics and advertising measurement.
You provide when you register or use the site: name, email, phone number, profile photo, listing text, and messages. Caregivers and care partners may also submit professional credentials, government-issued identification (for profile assembly and CERTIFIED review), police record checks or similar screening documents, résumés, references, and insurance certificates.
CERTIFIED and profile assembly: We use submitted documents to help build or review the public profile and to decide whether the listing may show the CERTIFIED badge (credentials required for that listing type are on file). We mask or omit home addresses, personal identification numbers, and similar sensitive details from the public profile. CERTIFIED is a display standard; we do not warrant that documents are authentic or current. Originals and college registers remain your or the client’s responsibility.
You must keep submitted information accurate and update it when it changes or expires.
We do not offer social-network sign-on. Footer links to Facebook, X, or LinkedIn are ordinary website links, not connected-login.
Draft inquiries: If you start a listing contact form while signed out, a copy may be stored only in your browser (for example session storage) until you sign in and send it. We do not treat that browser draft as a server-side file until you submit.
Contact info@comforhome.ca with questions about collection.
We use personal information to:
We do not run contests unless we announce one and tell you how data will be used.
Public: Text, photos, service area, self-stated rates, certificate names you choose to show, and CERTIFIED status on a listing are visible to visitors and search engines. If you type a phone number or email into a public description, we cannot treat it as private.
Not public by default: The caregiver’s account email and mobile number used for notifications. Those are used to notify you of inquiries and are generally disclosed to a client only if you reply.
Listing contact form (current): Sending requires a signed-in account. Each account may contact a limited number of distinct listing profiles per calendar day (current default 20; the same profile again that day does not use a new slot). Submitting the form authorizes us to send the inquiry (name, email, phone if provided, and message) to that listing’s caregiver by email and SMS notification, so they may respond to you.
Group Inquiry (not yet on the public site): We plan a later, paid feature that will let a signed-in client send one request to multiple caregivers. When it launches, this policy will apply to those recipients as well, and the purchase page will describe fees. It is not available today.
SMS: Mobile numbers are used for service notifications about inquiries and the platform. We do not sell or rent SMS opt-in data for third-party marketing. Reply STOP to leave SMS notifications.
reCAPTCHA: Listing forms and similar protections may use Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, which sends device and usage signals to Google under Google’s terms and privacy policy.
If you use a shared computer, sign out and clear the browser when finished.
We do not sell or rent personal information for others’ marketing.
We may share information with:
We do not share information so that ComforHome can employ, dispatch, or supervise caregivers. Relationships are between users.
You are responsible for how another user handles information you chose to give them.
Primary storage is in Canada. Tools such as Google (Maps, analytics, ads, reCAPTCHA) and Microsoft Advertising, and email/SMS vendors, may process data in other countries. Those countries’ laws may allow local authorities to access data. We limit such transfers to what those tools need. We do not operate our own routine hosting in the EU or United States as ComforHome’s primary data centre.
ComforHome marketing to you requires opt-in (account settings or an explicit signup). Unsubscribe links and STOP for SMS apply. We will stop marketing messages within 5 business days of withdrawal.
We will not sell your information to third parties for their marketing without your documented consent.
You may use opt-outs in ads (for example industry opt-out pages) to reduce personalized advertising. You may still see ads that are not based on your profile. We do not present a cookie consent banner or a preference centre on the site; you can block or delete non-essential cookies in your browser. See the Cookies Policy. This site does not respond to Do Not Track.
Inquiry content is transmitted with TLS.
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial law you may:
Access your personal information by writing to our Privacy Officer at info@comforhome.ca. We aim to respond within the time PIPEDA allows (generally up to 30 days, which may be extended as the Act permits). Reasonable fees may apply if the law allows; we will tell you first.
Correct inaccurate information via your account or the same email.
Change listing content in your dashboard. Information already sent in an inquiry cannot always be pulled back from the recipient.
Delete your account by emailing info@comforhome.ca from your registered email. We aim to complete deletion of account-held personal information within 5 business days, except what we must keep for law, disputes, tax, or security, and except aggregated de-identified analytics. Deletion is permanent. We only delete the account tied to that verified address.
Withdraw consent for optional marketing as above. We may still process information needed to run the account, security, and completed inquiries.
We use TLS in transit and industry-standard encryption at rest where our hosts provide it, access controls, and firewalls. We do not promise that any system is immune to attack. Report suspected misuse to info@comforhome.ca. We will notify affected individuals of a breach when Canadian law requires.
Retention (current practice):
Member-to-member inquiry content is kept as needed to deliver the message, notify the caregiver, operate limits, and meet legal or dispute needs — not as an indefinite public archive.
Do not add ComforHome users to marketing lists without their consent. Do not use inquiry tools to spam. Automated filters may scan messages for malware or abuse.
Third-party sites (including colleges’ public registers, Google, Microsoft, and social networks we only link to) have their own policies.
