1 year.
I’ve always been drawn to helping others, and my career path reflects that passion. After years of teaching nutrition and dietetics in Kenya, I felt a strong pull towards direct caregiving. That led me to pursue my PSW certification here in Ontario, where I honed my clinical skills while working with seniors facing diverse physical and cognitive challenges.
My experience goes beyond the technical aspects of caregiving. I believe in treating each individual with dignity and respect, understanding their unique needs and preferences. Whether it’s assisting with daily activities like bathing or dressing, preparing nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions, or simply providing a listening ear, I strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment.
My background in nutrition allows me to offer an extra layer of care. I’m adept at managing dysphagia and creating texture-modified diets, ensuring my clients receive the nourishment they need while enjoying their meals.
Beyond the practical skills, I bring a calm and patient demeanor to every interaction. I’ve been trained in Gentle Persuasive Approaches, which helps me effectively manage responsive behaviors often associated with dementia care. My priority is always to ensure my client feels safe, understood, and valued.
I’m excited about the opportunity to connect with families seeking compassionate and reliable home care for their loved ones. My goal is to empower seniors to maintain their independence and quality of life within the comfort of their own homes.
